Interested in helping to restore the BWCA Powwow Trail for hikers and backpackers like you? This one hour workshop will make you familiar with wilderness trail clearing topics: cutting tree falls safely, trail clearing standards, participant and team expectations, proper clothing and gear for the trip, goals, food and itinerary. The workshop is required for volunteers on October 15 day trip to clean up the first several miles of the Powwow Trail. Even if you participated in past trail clearing trips, please attend to refresh your skills. Not going on this trip? Anyone can attend!

Training hike for BWAC crew #22. We will meet at the Reservoir Woods Park in Roseville for trip orientation and a short hike. We welcome other hikers interested in learning more!

Crew #17 and any others
Another Meet & Greet hike for the 2022 Powwow Trail Fall trip led by Eric Thurstin. It will also be open to other members if they would like to attend although crew members will take precedence.

We will cover gear check lists and trip logistics for about an hour. We'll check your pack for comfort and essential gear in preparation for our September 22-26th canoe and hike on the Powwow trail. We will then hike Minnehaha Falls River gorge trail and surroundings. The hike will last about an hour, and will be mostly dirt single track trails, with some mud expected.

This is the required Meet & Greet hike for the May. 26-30, 2022 Powwow Trail spring clearing crew #12, led by Mark Jurmu and Susan Pollock. The hike will last just over an hour, and will be 1/2 wide gravel trail, and 1/2 single track through the woods trails. After the hike we will cover gear check lists and trip logistics for about an hour. We'll check your pack for comfort and essential gear in preparation for our May 26th - 30th adventure on the Powwow trail.

We will spend part of the time discussing logistics for the May 6-8 trip. Others are welcome to come along and walk with us as we go over gear choices.

This is the planning meeting and training hike for BWAC #2 spring survey crew with Paul & Susan: Barbara, Verena, A.J., Matt, Susan, Paul and Goeran.

This is the required Meet & Greet hike for the May 11-15, 2022 Powwow Trail spring clearing crew #7, led by Susan Pollock and Chris Anderson. If you aren't on the crew but would like join us for our meeting, gear talk, and a short hike, we have space for three additional people.

Since these two trips have so many members in common, we will be combining trips #1 and #5 for our required practice hike and gear check at Afton State Park. Bring mostly everything that you will be bringing on your trip in the pack that you will be carrying for the trip, along with some snacks and at least a liter of water. After we get the groups together and meet and greet, we will be taking a hike of a few miles or so along the river at Afton.

This hike is reserved for BWAC fall crew #14 until after August 15th.
After August 15, we welcome up to five hikers to RSVP and join us for our crew gear check and an afternoon hike.

CREW LUCKY #13
This is the required Meet & Greet hike for the August 25-29, 2021 Powwow Trail fall clearing crew #13, led by Susan Pollock and Chris Anderson.

Join us for a hike on the Lebanon Hills Regional park trails. We will share information about the upcoming volunteer opportunities on the Powwow trail, and answer any questions about our organization and ways we could use your help. Trips for this fall are already planned.

This is the required meet & greet and gear check hike for:

• Sept 12-26 "Western Powwow Clearing by Backpack - Are you Superstitious?" led by Zach Thorson and Dimitris Zermas.

Part of the meeting/hike will be logistics for the above trip, but others are welcome to come along to walk with us and to go over gear choices.

"Hidden behind the I-94 freeway wall, the North Mississippi Regional Park offers spectacular views of the Mississippi River and the surrounding woods and prairie."

This event is the crew hike and meeting for the September 19-23, 2019 canoe-in to Powwow Trail west side. Others are welcome to join us to learn more about volunteering for wilderness trails with BWAC and for an evening walk along the Mississippi River.

This will be the required training hike for the North Wilder Labor Day Weekend trail clearing trip. For those attending the North Wilder Labor Day weekend trip please bring your full pack. We will be having a gear check. All others Bring trail shoes, a snack, and at least one liter of water.
