Interested in helping to restore BWCA Wilderness Trails for hikers and backpackers like you? This 1.5 hour workshop will make you familiar with wilderness trail clearing topics: cutting tree falls safely, trail clearing standards, participant and team expectations, proper clothing and gear for the trip, goals, food and itinerary. This workshop is required for volunteers on the Sept 30th Powwow Trail clearing day trip. Even if you participated in past trail clearing trips, please attend to refresh your skills. Not going on this trip? Anyone can attend!

This orientation session is required if you are volunteering for a 2021 spring Powwow Trail clearing trip. If you are considering a trip later this year or curious about what it's like to volunteer on a trail clearing crew, this virtual event is a good opportunity to find out more.
BWAC is less than one month away from our first spring trip, and a world away from plans and hopes launched in January. BWAC leadership now meets virtually, and the 2020 spring crew orientation will be online. Plan to log in on April 9th at 6:00 p.m. for trail and club presentations. Enjoy a few moments imagining yourself in the wilderness, whether you will be visiting the trail this spring or in the future.

The workshop is intended for volunteers on October 12 day trip to clean up first several miles of the Powwow Trail, but participants are encouraged to inquire about other outings in October as well.
Missed the April 11 Training at Midwest Mountaineering? You have an opportunity for a make up on April 16 at Frost River. Conveniently located only two hours drive on I-35 in Duluth north of Twin Cities, it is more than an traditional canvas, leather and brass bags store. It is also a heaven for lay camping gear sewers (?) with more than 20 industrial sewing machines in the manufacturing area where the workshop will be held. I And if you live in Duluth, it is even closer! Join us!
This meeting is mandatory for all volunteers who are registered for 2019 spring Powwow Trail maintenance trips. Outdoor enthusiasts who want to learn more about volunteering with a trail clearing crew are also welcome.
