Safety is BWAC's #1 priority. We are closely monitoring all health recommendations, considering creative options for our crews, and will keep you appraised. Email Susan Pollock (address below) with suggestions or concerns.

This orientation session is required if you are volunteering for a 2020 spring Powwow Trail clearing trip. Thinking about a trip? Attend and learn more.

Presentations:
-- brief "day in the life" of a BWAC trail clearing volunteer
-- tools, trail standards, and introduction to safety
-- gear suggestions
-- apparel and layers for a spring trip
-- wilderness trail advocacy
-- resources for what to know before visiting the BWCAW

If you are registered for a spring crew, your trip crew leaders will coordinate the following:
-- Meet your crew and crew leaders
-- Forms: liability release, emergency contact, health & medical form
-- Gear: individual or group; sharing, needs or concerns
-- Timing, scheduling, trip plan, carpools

Those registered for a May trip will receive a McKenzie BWCAW map for the Powwow Trail, and a custom True North Map Co. bandana map. Administrative permits to enter the BWCAW are provided by BWAC's trail partner, the United States Forest Service, Superior National Forest.

Thank you for choosing to volunteer with the Boundary Waters Advisory Committee, an all-volunteer Minnesota nonprofit that has been keeping wilderness trails on the map since 2002. We look forward to meeting you and enjoying a rewarding wilderness experience with you.
