We will be scouting the Sioux Hustler Foot Trail, noting which sections need work and deciding on a plan for the June 1-4 clearing trip. We will stay overnight on Thursday night at the Lake Jeanette Campground just down the road from the trailhead. On Friday morning, we will set off on the trail in a counter-clockwise loop of the Sioux Hustler Trail, scouting for tree falls and areas that need work. Expect to do 10 - 12 miles per day on Friday and Saturday.

Have you volunteered on the Powwow Trail before, and now you’re ready to see all 31 miles of it? If so, come and join us for this spring’s circumnavigation survey trip!
We will circumnavigate the trail counterclockwise with a small crew and without tools. You will help survey treefall counts, campsite conditions, water sources, and document overall trail conditions on every segment of the trail. This information is reported in to all the other spring trips so that those crews have a better understanding of the conditions they’ll be facing on trail.

Martin, Matt and Lucas will circumnavigate the trail with a small crew for 3-5 days in late April. You will help survey the campsites set for restoration, count treefalls, and document trail conditions. Be warned - even late April can have winter-like weather conditions.

The 2019 Powwow circumnavigation and survey trip is reserved for participants who have already volunteered on a BWAC Powwow trail clearing trip.
Our crew will circumnavigate the entire Powwow Trail, surveying for sections needing priority clearing and creating waypoints for trail highlights. We will confirm GPS locations of the known campsite fire grates and record the number of tent pads, standing hazard trees, and water access information at each site. If time and conditions allow we will locate and clear a corridor to the South Wilder Lake campsite.
