ITINERARY
This is a hike-in trip to clear the areas west of Pose Lake. This will be a 6.25-mile hike-in Thursday afternoon and back out Sunday morning. All tools, training and a gear list will be provided.
Thursday. Our crew will depart TC metro early morning, and be at the Powwow trailhead by noon. After final pack checks and tool distribution we will backpack 6.25 miles to Pose Lake, a 2-4 hour hike. We'll set up our three night base-camp and if time allows, have an intro to tools and clearing session before dinner.
Friday and Saturday. Trail work days. Safety first!
Monday. Coffee & breakfast, hike out, and return the Twin Cities.
NOT-SO-FINE-PRINT TO DEFINITELY READ
Trail clearing experience is not required. BWAC provides group and in-the-field training, all tools, a gear list, and menu/food ideas. When the crew is full, we'll organize a local hike to meet each other, do a gear dump, plan carpools, sign forms, and confirm other trip particulars.
All volunteers are expected to attend the Thursday, August 29 BWAC crew member orientation and safety training. RSVP here.
Our crew will be up to nine volunteers. Zach and Susan will open registrations as crew members are approved. The attendee number on this posting does not reflect open spots. Thank you for understanding.
Weather and trail conditions are variable and unpredictable. There is inherent risk traveling in the wilderness. Participants should be fit and able to carry their own backpack, tent, sleep system, food, personal gear, and an assigned clearing tool.
The Boundary Waters Advisory Committee, a Minnesota 501(c)3, has been advocating for and restoring wilderness trails since 2002. Our nonprofit clears trails under a signed agreement with the United States Forest Service. All volunteers are required to read and sign the BWAC liability form and the USFS group volunteer signature form.
