Trip #8: Trailhead to South Wilder Lake

***BEFORE YOU RSVP: Meetup message Aaron or Christopher with your phone number and a good time to call.***

We'll help determine if the trip is a good match and discuss steps to get ready for the trail.

Let's hit the trail together and visit the north end of the Powwow’s loop. Mid May will give us great weather with longer light, civil twilight (no headlamps needed) 4:26am-9:45pm to get some work done and to enjoy the evening.

Proposed route and purpose of the trip: Backpack Powwow Trail from trailhead towards S Wilder Lake. Resume clearing west from last BWAC crews end point. Proposed campsite east of South Wilder Lake. We will meet early on Friday morning to car pool to the trailhead. We will hike approx. 10 miles on Friday to our base camp. Saturday and Sunday will be spent clearing the trail to proper standards. Monday we’ll pack up and hike out Monday morning and be back to the cities in the evening.

We will schedule a meet-and-greet, gear check, social distancing hike before our trip. Location will be determined once we have all the volunteers signed up but is usually centrally located near Minneapolis.

Social Distancing: We will be practicing proper social distancing during this trip. We have limited the group size to 6 to help accommodate this and there will be no more than two unrelated people in vehicles carpooling to the trailhead.

Costs: The $25 trip registration fee, payable through Meetup, offsets tool and administrative costs. Additional costs will be your trip food and shared gas $ for those not driving.

Small Print: All BWAC trips are pet, alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, and firearms free. Participants are required to sign a liability release and photo video waiver, BWAC health & medical self-disclosure form, BWAC policy for trips under covid-19, and the USFS volunteer agreement group signature form prior to the trip.
Visit www.BoundaryWatersTrails.org to review required forms and for a suggested gear list. Organizer reserves the right to deny participation to anyone for any or no reason.

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING TO VOLUNTEER WITH THE BOUNDARY WATERS ADVISORY COMMITTEE. Your time and energy will leave a legacy for hikers now and in the future.
