#10 Powwow Trail Restoration: "Superstition Lake Area"

Experience the Powwow trail as we clear along Superstition Lake and observe how the forest is recovering from a devastating fire in 2011.

We will meet early on Friday morning to car pool to the trailhead. We will hike 11.5 miles on Friday to our base camp on Superstition Lake.
We will spend Saturday and Sunday clearing the trail to proper standards. We will pack up and hike out Monday morning and be back to the cities in the evening.

We have scheduled a meet-and-greet, gear check, social distancing hike for Sat. Aug. 22nd at Coon Rapids Damn Regional Park

BEFORE YOUR RSVP: Meetup message Mark or Susan with your phone number and a good time to call. We'll determine if the trip is a good match and discuss steps to get ready for the trail. All volunteers must read and sign the BWAC participant liability form, BWAC health & medical self-disclosure form, BWAC policy for trips under covid-19, and the USFS volunteer agreement group signature form. Visit www.BoundaryWatersTrails.org to review required forms and for a suggested gear list.

Social Distancing: We will be practicing proper social distancing during this trip. We have limited the group size to 6 to help accommodate this and there will be no more than two unrelated people in vehicles carpooling to the trailhead.

Costs: The $25 trip registration fee, payable through Meetup, offsets tool and administrative costs and includes a Mckenzie map of the Powwow Trail . Additional costs will be your trip food, a group post trip meal, and shared gas $ for those not driving. Our trail partner, the U.S. Forest Service, provides the wilderness permit for BWAC volunteer crews.

Small Print: All BWAC trips are pet, tobacco, illegal drugs, and firearms free. Participants are required to sign a liability release and photo video waiver, USFS self certification health form, and a confidential BWAC medical form prior to trip. Organizer reserves the right to deny participation to anyone for any or no reason.
THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING TO VOLUNTEER WITH THE BOUNDARY WATERS ADVISORY COMMITTEE. Your time and energy will leave a legacy for hikers now and in the future.
